A thought on child abuse reporting
by Brainfloss ini find it interesting and shameful that in some cases of child abuse that have not been reported, the parents desire not to report, is the reason cited for not notifying the police.
when at the same time the government doesn't allow the parents of the same children to put them in a car with out a seat belt and go unsanctioned.

A word of advice clining to their persecutors ...
by SecretSlaveClass inlet me start off by saying i do not presume to have the answers, i am merely offering advice.. i will preface this posting with this, cutting a long story short:.
my sister was raped by a popular jw lad wh's dad happen to be a rock star elder.
in the attempt to fight him off his face was covered with scratches and it was reported to the police ( instead of rape he was sentenced on the lesser charges of sexual battery and assault) but he confessed to having violent, consentual sex.

Exposing one's identity. When?
by kairos ini've been toying with the idea of just coming out and posting my name and location as an attempt to be available to locals that secretly browse the forum that have known me for up to 25 years.
( "reaching out", so to speak ).
i'm not da'd or df'd, so this most certainly could end in a dramatic confrontation.

Remember, you can't turn back time.
Do not do anything you will regret. Will this affect your wife? Make it harder for her to leave? Make it harder for you to keep her? Will what those elders say really make a difference in a year or two?
If you could have your choice, what would it be?
*Keeping your wife? or *Having a standoff with the elders?
(Picture yourself having this thing with elders, and you win.... then your wife leaves you... Will you be happier? Or, if you don't 'engage them', your wife sees the light, you both leave the Borg, and you both don't care about what the elders do? Picture this, feel the emotions both ways.....)
Treasure your valuable things.

Isn't the WT an "international" organization?
http://www.justice.gov/criminal-hrsp
Promoting justice by prosecuting human rights violators and other international criminals
The Human Rights and Special Prosecutions Section (HRSP) primarily investigates and prosecutes cases against human rights violators and other international criminals. HRSP investigates and prosecutes human rights violators for genocide, torture, war crimes, and recruitment or use of child soldiers, and for immigration and naturalization fraud arising out of efforts to hide their involvement in such crimes. HRSP also prosecutes perpetrators of other international violent crimes, particularly those involving the Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act (MEJA) or occurring within the Special Maritime & Territorial Jurisdiction of the United States (SMTJ). Finally, HRSP prosecutes members of international criminal networks who seek to evade our immigration laws, such as by smuggling persons into the United States. In addition to its prosecutorial activities, HRSP is actively engaged in policy work, both domestically and internationally.

Dealing With ANGER!!
by kairos inlittle help i'd like to pass on from another cult survivor to me.. not jw but a violent, physically captive indian cult.. she says on anger:.
it's the longest lasting emotion with have.. it takes at least 90 seconds for it to run it's course once we stop.a lot can happen in 90 seconds, and some of the most horrible exchanges and actions happen right after the anger first manifests itself.. we're experiencing fantastic results by just going for a very short walk ( 90 seconds out in the yard or other room ) before continuing the conversation.. when my wife and i come back together we can smile, embrace and congratulate each other for avoiding a horrible day.. before it even becomes anger, wait 3-5 seconds before making your reply.
slow it down!!

badly handled from Elders
by Olivia Wilde ini am still attending the kh, i actually recently became aware of the ttatt, what i believed came as a huge surprised for me, i wasn't raised as a jw and have been for about 15 years.
i have always been a very open minded individual all my life always seeing both sides of any situation with logic and common sense and so i believe discovering all of the doctrines i have been taught sense 16 years of age, wasn't extremely hard for me to realize in my heart it was a lie.
well it was me discovering the watchtower society being a ngo member of the un nations for 10 years, after that the snowball just got bigger for me.

Hi Olivia, So sorry to hear of your bullying, and hard times, but glad to hear that you know the Truth About the Truth~
When you don't 'need people's approval'.... life gets easier... right?
Maybe you want to go back to be able to fade, to reconnect with your family, that's great... but if you have no family in there? the 'friends' you left behind are not real true friends, they are 'conditional'.... only if you are 'in' are they friends...
Hugs and best wishes,
Cha Ching!

Remember the two elderly sisters?
by John Aquila inabout a month ago i posted what had happened to two elderly sisters who were reprimanded by a couple of elders for crying because the jw broadcasting was going to be stopped at the kingdom hall and it was up to each publisher to learn how to use the internet.
if you recall the sisters got together with my mom and talked about it and it resulted in all of them declining to make meals for the pioneers.
here is the link.
